Background

Te Kupenga o Ngati Kuta and Patukeha ki Te Rawhiti placed a customary rahui over Maunganui Bay in 2009. The Minister for Primary Industries approved a two year temporary closure to the take of all fisheries except kina, in 2012. That closure was extended in 2014 for another two years. This current application is to extend the closure for a further two years.
