NZSF recommends that all anglers download or read the attached documents thoroughly.

Tag placement is essential to fish survival and subsequent tag returns. Ill placed tags and tags inserted whilst the fish is not under control especially at the side of the boat often result in misplaced tags and possible injury and even death for the fish.

Tag return cards are essential to ensure that returned tags can be matched to an angler and time and and weight estimate of the tagged fish. 

New Zealand is a world leader in tag and release and NZSF promotes sustainable and ethical fishing practices.
