Scooped the pool: 1959 was the year that the Tutukaka club won both New Zealand national trophies. Right is Geddes Maunsell with the Lord Norrie Gold Cup for the heaviest striped marlin of the season, won with a fish of 417lb; and left is Jim Price with the Old Man and the Sea Cup for the most meritorious catch of the season, which he won by catching a mako shark of 242 lb. to establish the national record fo rthe 50-lb line-and he did it by himself, alone on the launch! |
