Doug Taucher is a dedicated and experienced member of the New Zealand Sport Fishing Council, representing Zone 6 on the NZSFC Board. A lifelong angler, Doug has lived in Kawhia for the past eight years and is an active member of the Kawhia Boating & Angling Club. Now retired, he devotes much of his time to supporting his club and advancing recreational fishing across New Zealand.

Doug is involved in organising tournaments and delivering comprehensive training sessions for club members. His leadership in weighmaster training is particularly notable, and he serves as a weighmaster at events around the country. Through this work, he ensures the NZSFC community are up to date with the rules and regulations.

Doug is especially passionate about youth engagement and development within the sport. His commitment is reflected in his active involvement in both the NZSFC Fishing Standing Committee and the Youth Standing Committee. Doug’s energy, enthusiasm, and decades of angling knowledge make him a valuable asset to the Council, particularly in his efforts to mentor the next generation and secure the future of recreational fishing in New Zealand.
