Heyden lives at a river mouth has done a lot of fishing and boat rescue.  He has been a member of the Whakatane Fishing Club since he was a child and his children are keen fishermen/fisherwomen.  He wants now to give back to the sport and help grow the sport and the juniors.  

Heyden wants to spread the word about Council and to make sure clubs and members understand the things the Council does and how it supports them. Especially clubs with non-fishing members.
