Fishy Business The NZ Sports Fishing Nationals has just finished, and we had been competing for Marsden Cove. The results are in and we are pretty happy with the results for Marsden Cove Team Honda. Adam Clancey won New Zealand Champion Angler in the Yellowtail section, 2nd place Yellowtail Team Champions, Ian Biddick won Snapper 4 kg line class section, Adam Clancey got 3rd place in the 8kg line class for Yellowtail and he also won the 3kg line class section for Yellowtail. Kawhia Boating & Angling Club Inc What an epic day team BUILT TO FISH had on Thursday. Ben Brown, Mark Scobie and Adam Hallett tagged and released 3 Marlin while fishing for Kawhia in the Nationals aboard Ben’s boat Heavy Metal. Congratulations to the three of you on tagging & releasing a Marlin each. That’s awesome.

Tasman Tackle BLOODY MURPHY! Put out one 10kg set in the spread and the only fish you raise all day is a respectable Black Marlin that decides to eat that particular lure. After Joe being on the rod for 8 hours and 40 minutes and having a fish that was still pulling as hard as it did early in the fight, we made the decision to go for broke and popped the line 15 minutes later at 12.20 am. An unintentional night out but an awesome time, can’t wait to get back out there tomorrow. Lure was the Cobra “THE KIWI” in evil skirts running off the long corner.

Warkworth Gamefish Club inc  Good day for the team on Brenda L fishing the nationals. Started with a t/r mako and finished with 3 t/r striped marlin and another that came up tail wrapped and dead and went 166kg. New club record and the first 4 marlin day for the boat.

Doubtless Bay Sports Fishing Club Hihi Beach Marlin Classic winners. Len Duck on Zoe 181.5kg Blue Marlin on 24kg and the Soprano crew who won most fish caught and/ or tagged n released. Striped marlin weighed and a t/r striped marlin and make shark

Ahipara Gamefish Club Inc. Final results for Best of The West; 1st Out West 769.50 points, 2nd Megatron 643.50 points, 3rdOverdraft 600 points, 4th Dorado 591 points. then there were the hangers on who were close, but not quite close enough. Hardout 421.50 points, Torily 352.50 points, El Toro 303 points, Ma Rua 300 points, Game on 300 points, Full Throttle 286.50 points
